The Week I Got Sick 😷🤧Last winter, something happened at work that I will never forget. One Monday morning, my coworker Alex came to the office even though he had a terrible cold. He was coughing, sneezing, and looked very tired.
I was worried because we worked at the same desk area, but Alex didn’t seem to care.“Are you sure you should be here?” I asked him. He smiled and said, “Don’t worry. It’s only a cold.” During the day, he kept coughing without covering his mouth.
He also came close to me several times when he wanted to talk. I tried to keep my distance, but it was difficult because we had to work together.A few days later, I started feeling strange. My throat was sore, my head hurt, and I felt extremely tired. By Friday, I was really sick.
I had to stay home. What was supposed to be a normal weekend turned into a terrible week. I spent most of my time in bed, drinking tea and trying to get some rest. I had no energy to work, watch TV, or even talk to my friends.
The worst part was knowing that I had important work to finish. I felt frustrated because I had done nothing wrong, but I was the one who had to stay home and deal with the consequences. After almost a week, I finally felt better and went back to the office.
When Alex saw me, he immediately apologized. “I’m really sorry,” he said. “I didn’t realize how much my carelessness could affect you.”I accepted his apology, but I also told him how difficult that week had been for me.
Since then, I have looked at being sick differently. A cold may seem like a small problem, but it can have a big effect on someone else’s life.Sometimes, being considerate takes only a few simple things:
staying home, wearing a mask, covering your mouth, and keeping your distance. These small actions can make a big difference.#english,#short_story, 13:48 - 6 September 2026
